Young Lucy Deslauriers took the victory from her dad Mario Deslauriers at the FEI CSI3* International Bromont Classic, by a little more than one second.

31 rider-horse pairs were registered for the second FEI event of the International Bromont, at the Olympic Equestrian Park. American designer Anthony d’Ambrosio’s course comprised 12 obstacles for 15 efforts including a triple combination halfway, as well as a double combination before the last fence.

If time was not as tight as in the FEI Open on July 26, d’Ambrosio did not lessen the technical difficulty with his broken lines and sharper angles. However, 11 pairs did make it to the jump-off including American riders Lucy Deslauriers, Jonathan McCrea and Nicholas Dello Joio, Canadian Mario Deslauriers, Jill Henselwood, Julia Madigan, Vanessa Mannix and Lisa Carlsen as well as Irishman Cormac Hanley, with two mounts.

Mario Deslauriers quickly takes the lead with Bardolina 2, a 9 year-old Holsteiner mare (Clarimo x Villimey). Very fast, the pair stops the clock at 40.06 seconds. If Cormac Hanley/Alma Z & Julia Madigan/Farfelu du Printemps are quicker, a fallen bar, at the second and third obstacles, keeps them from winning.

We have to wait for Lucy Deslauriers on Hester (Wandor van de Mispelaere x Palestreo vd Begijnakker) for a new pair to take the lead. With a time of 38,48 seconds, the pair earns the win.

The next FEI event will be presented Sunday with the Quebec Original Grand Prix at 2 :30 p.m. It will be the subject of a special program on TVA Sports, on dates still to be determined.
