Marcus Ehning took a very convicing win in the CSI3* Grand Prix at Sentower Park in Opglabbeek on Sunday. Riding Gin Chin van het Lindenhof (Chin Chin x Calido I), Ehning demonstrated his unparalleled skills on the horse back by riding two picture-perfect rounds.

After the first round, 15 of the almost 60 riders had produced clears and moved on to the jump-off of the 1.55 Grand Prix presented by Ashford Farm. There Great Britain’s Laura Renwick was the first to jump a double clear on Bintang II (Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve x Orlando), with a time of 42.04 seconds. Holger Wenz and Cassio Rivetti also did clear rounds, but could not catch up with Britain’s speed demon – eventually ending fourth and fifth.

But, Marcus’ fine-tuned riding proved to be more efficient than any other fast-going-formula today. With turns 100 % precise, and the smoothest of riding the German rider ended his fantastic round by taking one stride out on the last line crossing the timers on 40.03 seconds.

The remaining riders all did their best, but today Ehning was in a league of his own. Closest to him came home rider Jeroen Appelen who did a great jump-off on Aikido Z (Accardi x Corrado I) slotting in between Marcus and Laura with a time of 41.49 seconds.
