Saturday's main competition at Piazza di Siena in Rome was a 70,000 Euro 1.50/1.55m jump-off class presented by Intesa Sanpaolo. Out of the 56 pairs that started, 11 made their way to the jump-off.

Home hero Lorenzo de Luca (ITA) on the 10-year-old Halifax van het Kluizebos (Heartbreaker x Fetiche Du Pas) looked all set to take another home win, when he clocked the time of 37,98 seconds in the jump-off.

However, De Luca was in the end pushed to second place as Mathieu Billot (FRA) on the 9-year-old mare Ilena S (Verdi x Calido I) did what seemed impossible and shaved only fractions off De Luca's time – winning the class with a time of 37,58 seconds.

Shane Sweetnam (IRL) on the 9-year-old gelding Main Road (Heartbeat x Irco Marco) took the third place with a time of 39,42 seconds in the jump-off, while Ryan Thomas (IRL) and the 13-year-old gelding Quite Zero (Quite Capitol x Landgraf I) ended fourth with their time of 39,57 seconds. Michel Hendrix (NED) on the 11-year-old gelding Baileys (Indoctro x Come on) took the fifth spot.

Billot had a good day at the office, as he placed second in the first class of the day, a 1.45m against the clock presented by MAG-JLT, riding the only 8-year-old mare Vialotta d'Ick (Diamant de Semilly x Pilot).

Roberto Turchetto (ITA) on the 10-year-old stallion Topper Z (Triple X x Orame) took a home win with a time of 55,75 seconds. Kara Chad (CAN) on the 11-year-old mare Bonita Z (Baron Cento Heldenlaan) placed third with a time of 57,27 seconds and Eric Lamaze (CAN) on the 10-year-old mare Thalis de la Roque (Kannan x Quand Viens Tu) placed fourth with a time of 57,72 seconds. The fifth place went to Francesca Arioldi (ITA) on the 10-year-old gelding Loro Piana Celtic (Montender x Indoctro) with a time of 57,88 seconds.

The 1.40m CSIYH1* class for the 7-year-old horses over two rounds was won by Gudrun Patteet (BEL) on Sea Coast Kira van het Bokkenhof (Emerald van 't Ruytershof x Querlybet Hero) with a double clear result in a time of 38,12 seconds in the second round. Out of the 18 pairs that started, only five cleared the first round and made their way to the second round.

Juan Carlos Garcia (ITA) on Artiste du Guerpre (Untouchable M x Beau Reve Platiere) placed second with a time of 39,06 seconds in the second round and Bryan Mascenti (ITA) on Fentanil (Cento x Corland) placed third with a time of 41,27 seconds. Emilio Bicocchi (ITA) on Faliane W (Emilion x Indorado) placed fourth with a time of 45,91 seconds in the second round. With a time of 41,64 seconds but one pole down in the second round, Giovanni Consorti (ITA) on Cutter (Roble Z) had to settle for the fifth spot.
