In our count down towards the showjumping in Rio, we take a look back at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and here are some of the highlights. All photos (c) Jenny Abrahamsson.

Edwina Tops-Alexander rode the tiny Itot du Chateau in London, and has also chosen a small horse for Rio: Lintea Tequila will be her partner this time around.

Ian Millar did his 6th Olympics in London. This year he will not be part of the Canadian team, but his daughter Amy is.

Triple X III, with his beautiful light brown eyes, will jump at his second Olympics. Last time with Ben Maher, this time with Tiffany Foster.

London in London. After taking double silver at the last Olympics, Gerco Schröder and London are reserves for the Dutch team this year.

Reed Kessler wrote history at the London Olympics by being the youngest equestrian ever to participate at the Games as it was just a couple of weeks after her 18th birthday. Unfortunately for Kessler, she will not be a part of the American team for Rio.

A big smile from Rolf-Göran Bengtsson on Casall. Unfortunately, the happiness didn't last that long as Casall injured himself during the second team competition and Rolf had to withdraw from the rest of the Games.

Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum was very happy with the young Bella Donna. The mare was later on sold to Qatar, and will unfortunately not be seen at the Olympics in Rio. For this year's Games, Meredith is reserve with Fibonacci.

It was not only Rolf and Casall that couldn't jump the last day in London: Jos Lansink and Valentina van't Heike had to withdraw as well.

What was Steve Guerdat's groom Heidi Mulari thinking at this very moment? Steve had just gone clear, and they still had to wait and see how the last riders would do. Just moments after this photos was taken, it was clear that Guerdat was Olympic Champion.
