The prestigious five-star event CHI Geneva kicked off on Thursday, and the main class of the day was the 1.55m Credit Suisse Geneva Classic that went to Harrie Smolders (NED). Out of a starter field of 52 horse-and-rider combinations, it was Harrie Smolders on the 13-year-old gelding Zinius (Nabab de Reve x Kannan) that clocked the winning time of 61,28 seconds. ”Zinius is very competitive, but the class today was a real challenge," Harrie said afterwards. ”For being the first day, it was a big class and the field of horses and riders here is very strong. I am very proud of Zinius for being able to win this class," he went on. ”I have had him for about a year now, and he has been very consistent and has been winning a lot. In the last few months he has started to feel consistent also on a higher level," Harrie said about his winning mount.
