CSIO5* Spruce Meadows 'Masters' 2017

This week the Spruce Meadows 'Masters' 2017 kicks off, and on the list for the CSIO5* event are some of the world's best riders.

After riding to victory in the Rolex Grand Prix at CHIO Aachen 2017, Gregory Wathelet will head for Calgary as the current Grand Slam contender. If he is allowed to not only celebrate his 37th birthday on September 10th 2017, but also his second consecutive Major victory, it will mean Wathelet would be competing in Geneva in December to take the Grand Slam title which only Great Britain's Scott Brash has done before.

In addition to Wathelet there will be Rolex Grand Prix winners, European Champions, Olympic Champions and World Cup Champions present at Spruce Meadows as well as many other famous riders: Pedro Veniss, Eric Lamaze, Sergio Alvarez Moya, Kevin Staut, Scott Brash, Philipp Weishaupt, Cian O'Connor, Lorenzo De Luca, Maikel van der Vleuten, Luciana Diniz, Steve Guerdat, Kent Farrington, McLain Ward and Beezie Madden are all on the entry list.

Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and USA also field teams in Calgary.
