The winner Jerome Guery had this to say about his winning partner Papillon Z: "Papillon Z only came to my stable three weeks ago, but we got a good connection straight away. Papillon knows his job, with great riders riding him before me. We did our first show at the CSI3* in Lanaken and had a small mistake the first day and then were clear in the rest of the classes. I thought we were ready to go here to Lummen, so we organized that directly after Lanaken. The first day here he jumped a 1.45 class and then on Friday he was clear in the qualification and I tried to win it in the jump-off."

About the qualities his horse has, Guery said; “Papillon is a really nice horse and really careful, but he needs confidence in his rider. If you ask him something to quick he gets confused and that happened in the jump-off in the qualifier so we got some faults."

About today's exciting start of the jump-off, Guery commented: "He preferred to go out of the arena when we passed the out gate. I convinced him to go, but since he stopped right before the start line I had no time to do a circle so it was just to go straight on."

Harrie Smolders ended second with Emerald, and said: "Last year was a bit unfortunate with Emerald. We tried to go for the WEG, but it was too quick so he got some time off. In the beginning of this year we started off in Wellington and he jumped really good. And I think he showed this week - both in the Nations Cup and in the Grand Prix - that he is back in a great shape."

Niels Bruynseels, who ended third, says this: "I'm very happy today. My horse is in great form and was double clear already in the Nations Cup on Friday. He is not the fastest horse, so I took my time in the jump-off to jump a clear round and I am very pleased with the third place."

Jerome Guery was asked was the plan for Papillon Z is, as the horses ending up in his stable often get sold quick; "He certainly came to me to be sold, but I will do my very best with him as long as he stays in my stable and I do hope that he will stay for a bit longer."
