The Hamburg Derby is extremely demanding, and so are the qualifications - still four riders out of the 51 participating managed to be clear in today's competition. The fastest one of the clear rounds came from Germany's Hans-Jörn Ottens with the 8 year old DSP Crashman (Con Sherry x Cantino). He ended the long course in 104,09 seconds. Second place went to Andre Thieme with Voigtsdorfs Quonschbob (Querlybet Hero x Caletto II) while Janne-Friederike Meyer with Cellagon Anna (Asca x Contendro I) took the third place - securing a German trio on top.

The derby expert pair Carsten-Otto Nagel and Lex Lugar (Lordanos x Landadel) lived up to the expectations and cleared the course ending fourth. The winner from 2013 - Gilbert Tillmann, this time riding Hadjib (Chequille x Beg xx), cleared the fences but got one time fault.

Thursday's first qualification gave a couple of more clear rounds and was won by Mario Stevens with his new ride El Bandiata B (El Bundy x Picard) followed by David McPherson with Gloria van Zuuthoeve (Thunder van de Zuuthoeve x Glorieux) and Stefan Jensen with Concord (Caretino x
Capriccio).
