CHIO Rotterdam 2015

Jur Vrieling could be really pleased with VDL Zirocco Blue N.O.P's performance during the show in Aachen.

As Rob Ehrens is sending his best team to fight for points and glory at the CSIO5* on home soil in Rotterdam next weekend it is also a fact that Gerco Schröders top ride Glock’s London N.O.P (Nabab de Reve x Chin Chin) is still not ready to compete at top level after he sustained an injury earlier this year. With the European Championships in Aachen only two months ahead it is thus uncertain whether the wonderful stallion will get ready in time.

Gerco is still a part of the Dutch team for Rotterdam though as he has partnered up with Glock’s Cognac Champblanc (by Clearway). In addition to Gerco the Dutch team consist of the other reigning World Champions from Normandy; Jur Vrieling, Jeroen Dubbeldam and Maikel van der Vleuten. Jur has retired his WEG-partner VDL Bubalu (Baloubet du Rouet x Nimmerdor), but is riding his new star VDL Zirocco Blue N.O.P instead (Mr Blue x Voltaire), while VDL Groep Verdi TN N.O.P (Quidam de Revel x Landgraf I) and SFN Zenith N.O.P (Rash R x Fuego de Prelet) are joining Maikel and Jeroen. The reigning Dutch Champion Leopold van Asten is the Dutch reserve together with VDL Groep Zidane (Heartbreaker x Calando I).

The same team of riders and horses performed very well in Rome in May ending second in the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup with double clear rounds from 3 out of 4 riders. If the team manages to keep up their good efforts and picks up some needed points in Rotterdam it will probably be the health of the horses deciding the final team for Aachen in August.
