A strong performance from the Belgian team gave them the gold medal in the team competition at the European Championships for young riders at Lake Arena, Austria this weekend. Michael van Den Bosch on Atilja (Guidam x Hemmingway), Boy-Adrian van Gelderen on Be Cool (Vanoverbeek x U2 van de Mespel) and Pieter Clemens on Quality II (Quasimodo Z x Chellano) were clear all the way to secure the gold making it possible to discharge Jonas Vervoort's score.

Germany also put in a solid performance to take silver on a score of four penalties, after all riders contributed with clear rounds. Kaya Lüthi, Guido Klatte and Niklas Krieg were all clear in the first round but had four in the second while Maurice Tebbel was double clear - leaving them on eight faults after discharging the four from Krieg. This was also Ireland's result, and it ended in a jump-off that saw  both teams on a clean sheet but a total time that favoured Germany. Irish boys Eoin McMahon, Michael G. Duffy, Michael Duffy and Jonathan Gordon thus had to settle for bronze.

Indivdually it was Sweden that claimed gold for a second consecutive year, courtesy of Ebba Larsson on Waterford (Coolcorron Cool Diamond x Julio Mariner xx). Larsson was the only rider that managed to be clear all the way, and could step up to the top of the podium at Lake Arena. Germany's Kaya Lüthi only carried with her the four faults from the second round of the team competition, but remained clear for the rest to take silver on Pret A Tout (Hiram Chamertin x Stew Boy). That was also the case for Germany's Guido Klatte on Qinghai (Quidam de Revel x Cordalme) - the only factor that separated him and Lüthi was the score of 1.47 points based on the time difference in Wednesday's first speed qualifier.
