While Brazil’s Rodrigo Pessoa has taken over the reins on Darragh Kenny’s former top horse Sans Soucis Z, the Irish rider welcomes two new stars in his stables. Sergio Alvarez Moya’s ride Red Star d’Argent (Quick Star x Jalisco B) has been given to Darragh Kenny, while he also purchased another horse at Alvarez Moya’s: the now 9-year-old Bolero 111 (Chatman x Darco).

“I will ride Red Star for the foreseeable future, until he will be sold. I am very excited to have him, because he is a super nice horse,” Darragh Kenny says to World of Showjumping. The now 11-year-old bay gelding has had many great results with Sergio, such as a victory in a 1.50m class in Lanaken in 2015 and top ten placings at five-star shows like St Tropez, Rome, Lyon, Antwerp and Madrid.

Sergio Alvarez Moya competed Darragh Kenny’s new ride Bolero 111 successfully at five-star 1.50m level. Bolero 111 was born at the Belgian stables of Harrie Theeuwes and is closely related to McLain Ward’s legendary Olympic gold medalist Sapphire. “I think they are both very exciting horses for me to have the chance to ride,” Darragh Kenny says to World of Showjumping.
