Ireland’s acclaimed rider Cian O’Connor takes his first victory at CHIO Aachen 2016 aboard his student Lillie Keenan’s mare Be Gentle (Ticallux Verte x Gentleman). Last weekend, USA’s Lillie Keenan competed the wonderful 10-year-old mare at CSIO5* Falsterbo, but today her trainer Cian O’Connor rode Be Gentle to victory in the 1.45m Prize of Handwerk.

In a time of 69.46, Cian O’Connor finished more than two seconds faster than runner-up Cassio Rivetti, representing Ukraine on Beau Limit (No Limit x Hors La Loi II) – finishing in 71.96 seconds. Great Britain’s Michael Whitaker took the third spot riding JB’s Hot Property, while Ireland’s young talent Jonathan Gordon finished fourth aboard Pius Schwizer’s former ride PSG Junior (Cornet Obolensky x Landgold). Switzerland’s Martin Fuchs finished fifth riding Uzo van het Hobos Z (Up to Date Miltoo x Chellano Z).
