The CSI4* Jumping International of Valence finished its third day of competition on Saturday, and the French heroes have not disappointed. On Friday, Olympic team champion Kevin Staut and world no. two Simon Delestre proved to be in great form taking first and second in the 1.50m Prix CFDP. Staut had partnered up with the 11-year-old gelding Aran (Manhattan x Colino), and took a victory that delighted the audience – whose applause shook the packed grandstands.

Haras Des Coudrettes’s rider had a close race with his compatriot Simon Delestre and Zimequest Chesall (Casall x Concerto II), as only 0.20 seconds separated the two. Sweden’s Charlotte Mordasini took care of the third place, aboard Romane du Theil (For Pleasure x Quidam de Revel).

On Thursday, it was Dutch rider Jelmer Hoekstra that took care of the top of the podium in the feature class. Hoekstra rode the 12-year-old Quinoa des Riollets (Calvaro x Fort Grandchamp) to victory in the 1.50m Prix MMA with a clear round and a time of 62.83 seconds. Then followed no less than eight home riders, and runner-up was Olympic team champion Philippe Rozier on Unpulsion de la Hart (Kashmir van Schuttershof x Nonstop) with a time of 64.43 seconds. Third place went to Olivier Robert on Quenelle du Py (Tresor du Renom x Ryon d'Anzex).

Although Saturday's feature class saw a British rider on top as Laura Renwick won with Heliodor Hybris (Diamant De Semilly x Cannonball), two home riders followed in second and third. Louis Bouhana finished as runner-up on Shamrock du Niro (Wonderboy x Vert Et Rouge) in the 1.50m Prix Axeria, 0.06 seconds behind Renwick while Maelle Martin was third on Icarus van't Klavertje Vier (Bentley van de Heffinck x Palestro v. Begijnakker).
