Grand Prix Replay reports that world no. two Simon Delestre is the new rider of Sultan du Chateau.

The 10-year-old gelding is by Kannan and out of the same mother as Edwina Tops-Alexander’s unforgettable Itot du Chateau, and has over the last five years been competed by French rider Laurent Guillet. This year, the pair took home no less than two Grand Prix wins at the Spring Mediterranean Equestrian Tour in Oliva – one two-star and one three-star – as well as winning the two-star Grand Prix in Arnas Sauvageonne.

"Entrusting Sultan to another rider was an idea we had for some time," explains Laurent Guillet to Grand Prix Replay. "Looking at my schedule, I realized that it was a shame to confine Sultan to two- and three-star competitions when he can do so much more. Simon, who always is in need of horses, was interested and I always had a good relationship with him.”

The long-term aim is to sell the horse, but Guillet says to Grand Prix Replay he is no hurry to do so.
