It was Gregory Wathelet (BEL) that finished on top in Saturday night's CSI5*-W Equita Masters presented by Equidia Life in Lyon.

Aboard the 12-year-old stallion Eldorado van het Vijverhof (Thunder van de Zuuthoeve x Omar), Wathelet was close to a win in Friday's Longines Grand Prix with the fastest time of the class but a rail down kept the pair away from the top. On Saturday night the couple revenged themselves, and went off with the victory in the 1.60m competition open to twenty riders.

Five riders produced double clear rounds, and Wathelet was by far the fastest one against the clock with almost two seconds separating him from runner-up Denis Lynch (IRL) on All Star 5 (Argentinus x Alme). Carlos Lopez (COL) finished third on Admara (Padinus x Murano), 2.59 seconds behind Wathelet. Marcus Ehning on Comme il faut (Cornet Obolensky x Ramiro) took care of fourth place, and with the last double clear of the competition it was Gerco Schröder on Glock's Lausejunge (Ludwigs As x Cornet Obolensky) that ended fifth.
