As the young riders had finished their final rounds at the European Championships at the x-bionic® sphere in Samorin, it was Bryan Balsiger (SUI) who claimed the gold medal aboard Clouzot de Lassus (Ugano Sitte x Tenor Manciais). After ending 21st in Thursday's first round and picking up another four faults in the first team competition, Balsiger and his nine-year-old gelding did not touch a single pole in the final three rounds.

"My horse did amazing today and I am very happy because last year I finished on 7th place and this year I won a gold medal! It's just amazing for me. The competition was definitely very tough, with many good riders with high level. It is a very beautiful resort, all our team had a great week here. It was a good show, we hope to come back next year," Balsiger said after his win.

Justine Tebbel (GER)  secured the silver medal aboard Light Star (Light On x Lafontaine) on a total of 7,64 points, only 0,16 points behind Balsiger. "It was an amazing day and week for me. I’m totally happy with our rounds and second place is more than I expected. It’s my first individual medal ever. Last year I was fifth in the juniors, but that was my best result. I was a bit nervous everytime I waited for my round, but I had great team here and they help me go through with it. I’m also really proud of my horse. He’s just 8 years old and he has never jump course like this."

British rider Amy Inglis won the bronze medal aboard Wishes (Guidam x Wellington) on a score of 9,81 penalties. "I can`t believe it. I didn`t think I could reach for any medal. It`s my first competition at young riders category and my horse is only nine. And now I am very delighted with the team, it is a really special day for me. It is definitely the best success in my carrier so far. I feel amazing here, in x-bionic®, Samorin, definitely want to come back and do it again."
