Only three of the 35 riders in the CSI5* 1.50m Laiterie de Montaigu Trophy at the Longines Masters of Paris managed to stay double clear, and fastest of them all was Italy's Emanuele Gaudiano.
Seven horse-and-rider combinations jumped clear over the first round track, but only three repeated their clean sheets against the clock where Gaudiano stopped the clock at 34.88 seconds on the only 8-year-old Chalou (Chacco Blue x Baloubet du Rouet). Belgium's Pieter Devos finished in second place with Gin D (Clinton I x Skippy II) with a time of 36.01, while France's Edward Lewy was the best of the home riders on Sirius Black (Calisco du Pitray x Laudanum) in 37.09 seconds in the jump-off.
Canada's Eric Lamaze was fast, but recorded four faults on Fine Lady 5 (Forsyth FRH x Drosselklang II) to settle for fourth while fifth went to Germany's Daniel Deusser who had eight penalties on Cornet D'Amour (Cornet Obolensky x Damiani).
