Marcel Marschall and Derin Demirsoy on top in Salzburg

Marcel Marschall (GER) and Derin Demirsoy (TUR) went off with a big win each in Salzburg on Saturday: Marschall took the top honours in the 1.55m PAPPAS Championat of Salzburg while Demirsoy was the best in the 1.50m Banki & Sohn Trophy at the CSI4* event in Austria. 

Ten riders made it to the jump-off in the 1.55m competition, where Marschall and the 12-year-old mare Fenia van Klapscheut (Cicero Z van Paemel x Ahorn Z) were the fastest after stopping the clock at 36.52 seconds. Emeric George (FRA) and Chopin des Hayettes (Radco d'Houtveld x Nimmerdor) took care of the runner-up position with their time of 38.09, while third place went to Jaroslaw Skrzyczynski (POL) and Calevo (Casall x Levantos I) after they crossed the finish line in 38.39 seconds. Holger Hetzel (GER) finished fourth, and Gerco Schröder (NED) fifth. 

Earlier in the day, in the 1.50m class against the clock, Derin Demirsoy was blistering fast aboard the 14-year-old gelding Dadjak ter Puttenen (Toulon x Vanitas) recording the winning time of 57.93 seconds. In 58.34 followed Hans-Dieter Dreher (GER) on Berlinda (Berlin x Gento), while Jaroslaw Skrzyczynski finished third in 59.89 on Silver Shine (Califax x Balou du Rouet) in this competition that was the second qualifier for Sunday's Grand Prix. Marcel Marschall ended fourth, and Emeric George fifth.
