Pius Schwizer retired his long-time partner Ulysse X (Nonstop x Jus de Pomme) on Saturday at the CSI5*-W event in Zürich, Switzerland. The 21-year-old gelding has had a long and successful career with the Swiss rider, and was a part of the gold medal winning Swiss team at the European Championships at Windsor in 2009 as well as coming second in the FEI World Cup Final in Geneva in 2010 just to mention a few highlights.

Pius thanked off his loyal partner, stating how horses are not sport equipment that can simply be forgotten in the back of the closet – Ulysse will be enjoying his retirement on the field and hacking out with his grooms. And, he won't be alone: He will have a tiny pony to keep him company at all times!
