At the age of 24, Mario Stevens’ Mac Kinley has passed away. Mac Kinley had a hugely successful career, first with Rolf-Göran Bengtsson – who took the team silver medal at the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004 with him – and then later on with Mario Stevens.

In 2011, the then 17-year-old Mac Kinley was retired from the sport during the show in Frankfurt and has spent his time in the fields on Stevens’ yard ever since.

“Mac Kinley is the best horse I have ever ridden, and he made my career,” Stevens says to World of Showjumping. “Even though it is very sad that he now has left us, I’m very happy that he still got so many happy years here after his career ended.”
