According to L’Eperon, Paul Estermann’s top mare Castlefield Eclipse (Obos Quality 004 x Furisto) will be retired from the sport. The 16-year-old Irish bred mare will from now on spend her time breeding in Belgium at Axel Verlooy’s stable. Her owner Arturo Fasana and the Verlooys are now hoping for foals by Emerald and Curtis Sitte.

Castlefield Eclipse has had huge success with Estermann in the saddle, and the two of them were part of the Swiss team at the Olympic Games in London in 2012, at the Europeans in Herning in 2013, at the World Equestrian Games in Caen in 2014 and at the Europeans in Aachen in 2015 where they won team bronze. In 2014, the pair won the five-star Grand Prix of St. Gallen. The mare did her last show in December 2017, and to L’Eperon Fasana says: "I would like to thank Paul Estermann for believing in this mare, and for taking her with patience and selflessness to the highest level."

We wish Castlefield Eclipse a happy life as breeding mare!
