THE question on everyone lips is – can records be broken at the 2018 Bolesworth Elite Auction?

Last year the foal, Tinka’s Star, by Nick Skelton’s Rio individual gold medal winning ride Big Star, out of multiple Grand Prix winner Tinka’s Serenade fetched a massive £92,000 under the hammer!

On the evening, the 18 lots made a huge £443,000 with the Bolesworth Elite Auction proving it had come of age.

This year’s auction will take place on the evening of Thursday, June 14 and include foals and a limited number of yearlings.

The collection is the most exciting yet with Big Star, Cornet Obolensky, Cassall Ask, Emerald and For Pleasure, just some of the top sires represented in the line up.

It will once again be run in partnership with Luk Van Puymbroeck & Gerald Lenearts, organisers of the successful Flanders foal auctions, based in Belgium, who will be will be overseeing the selection process, both in the UK, and Europe.

The unique concept of selecting youngstock with ‘Black type’ dam lines will be continued this year with the strict criteria for selection ensuring that every lot will be by a top commercial show jumping stallion, with close relations on the dam side that have competed internationally at 1.50m level or above.

Ramiro B, the world number 4 sire of leading event horses, owned by the Harthill Stud will also parade in the main arena at 6.30pm on Thursday, June 14, along with Rio individual gold medallist Big Star, before the Cazenove Capital Eventing Grand Prix at 7.10pm and Elite Auction at 9pm. Arko, Nick Skelton’s former multi-awarding winning ride will also join Ramiro B and Big Star making for a real treat for all show jumping fans.

Ramiro B is of course the sire of this year’s Land Rover Kentucky Horse Trials winner, Cooley Master Class and runner-up at the 2018 Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials, Cooley SRS, both ridden by Oliver Townend and owned by Angela Hislop.

Said Show President Nina Barbour: “Last year’s Bolesworth Elite Auction proved that with careful selection, and high class well related youngstock we really can draw worldwide buyers to the UK marketplace.”

“We are delighted to once again be working with the team from the Flanders Auction, and look forward to welcoming potential owners looking to invest in their next superstar.”

The sale will be held in Bolesworth's VIP marquee at 9pm on June 14. Normal ticket holders will have access to the Owners’ & Riders' Lounge next to the VIP marquee with fully licensed bar and full viewing of the auction.

Lots will be available to view on site during the day on Wednesday, June 13 and Thursday, June 14 adjacent to the Main Arena. There will be an official preview in the Auction Stables enclosure at 1pm on June 14. Telephone bidding will be available on the night, and the Auction will be live streamed via Clip My Horse.
