Belgian rider Gudrun Patteet has sold Sea Coast Atlantic (Schilling x Aramis de la Cense), one of her top horses, to Ireland's Cian O'Connor.
With Patteet in the saddle, the 12-year-old gelding won the World Championship for 7-year-old horses in Lanaken back in 2013, as well as winning last year's CSI4* Grand Prix in Ascona and taking five-star wins in Ascona, La Baule and St. Moritz during 2017 and 2018.
On her official Facebook page, Patteet wrote yesterday: "Some goodbyes are harder than others... Today Sea Coast Atlantic has left our stable. He has been my partner and best friend for the last 6 years. Together we became World Champion 7yo horses, we won the 4* Grand Prix of Ascona, won many classes at 5* shows all over Europe and jumped a clear round in the World Cup of Mechelen...
We are proud to say that we sold this amazing horse to one of the best riders in the world. We wish Cian O’Connor (Irl) all the best with ‘Atje’. Goodbye my friend and thank you for everything... We will miss you."
