While the panorama of international competitions continues to offer shows at the highest level with the best riders of all time competing against exceptionally talented young riders, the FEI is preparing its annual General Assembly where important issues will be discussed.

FEI General Assembly

The FEI management, the representative of the riders and many leading figures of the international equestrian scene are all expected to attend.

International Jumping Riders Club (IJRC) Director Eleonora Ottaviani, IJRC Board Member and top international Canadian rider Tiffany Foster together with former IJRC President Cayetano Martínez de Irujo will attend the meeting – representing the voice of riders all over the world.

Important subjects on the agenda include the “modifications of the Jumping Rules and Rules for Championships and Games”.

The Club is worried about any changes to the allocation of points for the world ranking list and the method of awarding points to riders at various levels of competition.

The position of the IJRC on these matters has been explained many times (60/20/20 %) and will be highlighted at the General Assembly once again.

The new invitation system, which is about to become compulsory – and will be discussed during the meeting – should help to manage the CSI Invitation Rules.

This is thanks to an online platform which will guarantee the correct application of the CSI Invitation Rules and facilitate the process for all the stakeholders involved.

The aim of the new online invitation system is to invite athletes according to their position on the Longines Ranking, giving them the right and the opportunity to participate based on their performance.

This will also allow younger riders to display their talent and climb the rankings.

YRA five-year anniversary

Meanwhile, some of the best young European riders took centre stage at an important event last week.

At the Fritz Tiedemann Halle in Elmshorn, A Young Riders Academy celebrated its fifth year anniversary.

Thirty-two riders, who have taken part in the project over these past five years, attended the celebration which included a showjumping class with an important prize: A prestigious invitation to the Calgary Summer Tour 2019.

A Young Riders Academy thanks Linda Southern-Heathcott and all the organisers who support these young talents with enthusiasm.

Show jumping heroes including Neco Pessoa, Franke Sloothaak, Marco Kutscher, Otto Becker and Emile Hendrix joined this amazing celebration, making it even more memorable.
