John Whitaker is out of action due to a fractured collarbone.

The 63-year-old British legend had a dramatic fall with his horse Argento in yesterday’s CSI5* 1.40m warm-up class in Gothenburg, Sweden. A medical examination revealed that the veteran has a fractured collarbone, which means that there will be no more jumping for Whitaker in Scandinavium. Whitaker was supposed to be competing in the five-star classes that run alongside the Longines FEI World Cup Final.

The event organizers report that Whitaker’s horse Argento was thoroughly checked by a veterinarian after the fall, and it has been confirmed that the 17-year-old stallion escaped without injuries.

At World of Showjumping we wish John a quick recovery, and hope to see him back in the ring soon!
