Longines FEI World Cup Final 2019

The second round of the Longines FEI World Cup Final 2019 was exciting from beginning to end. The class resulted in a shake-up in the top, where it's very tight ahead of Sunday's last rounds with less than a pole separating the seven best riders. Here Japan's Shino Hirota leaves the ring with a big smile on her face after tackling the difficult course with three poles down on Life Is Beautiful.

The reigning World Cup Champion sits tied in 4th overall going into Sunday's rounds.

Photo © World of Showjumping by Jenny Abrahamsson Max Kühner and Chardonnay 79 delivered the first clear in the class, and finished third after a fast jump-off.

Photo © World of Showjumping by Jenny Abrahamsson Living legend Ludger Beerbaum rode Cool Feeling in this round, and the two secured a jump-off when going clear straight after Kühner. A rail down in the jump-off put them 8th.

Photo © World of Showjumping by Jenny Abrahamsson It was not Pieter Devos and Apart's day. After finishing second in round one, the two were unfortunately eliminated in round two after the gelding twice jumped straight into the first element of the triple combination.

Photo © World of Showjumping by Jenny Abrahamsson Belgium's Niels Bruynseels delivered another clear round with Delux van T&L, but had four faults in the jump-off ending 6th. However, Bruynseels rode himself up on the overall standings and sits tied in 4th going into Sunday.

Photo © World of Showjumping by Jenny Abrahamsson Peder Fredricson and Catch Me Not S gave everything in front of the home crowds, and it paid off! After his win, the Swedish rider now sits 2nd on the overall standings.

Photo © World of Showjumping by Jenny Abrahamsson After a fantastic first round, Oliver Robert and Tempo de Paban moved on to the jump-off but like many others they did not get the last oxer right. The turn back to this oxer placed alongside the wall caused trouble for Beerbaum, Bruynseels and Madden too. Here Robert finds his balance with only one hand on the reins.

Photo © World of Showjumping by Jenny Abrahamsson Leading the way into round two, the pressure was on world no. one Steve Guerdat and Alamo. Unfortunately, the two had an unlucky rail on the oxer at nine and now sit 3rd overall ahead of Sunday.
