Abdel Said opened the weekend at the CSI5*-W H.H.Sharjah Ruler Cup with a win in the Longines Grand Prix qualifier, a 1.50m table A. Riding the 10-year-old mare Arpege du Ru (Apache d'Adriers x Quat'Sous), Said bested a field of 71 horse-and-rider combinations with a clear result in a time of 56.06 seconds.
Christian Ahlmann (GER) on the 9-year-old stallion Solid Gold Z (Stakkato Gold x Calvin Z) took the runner-up position with a time of 57.77, while Jack Ryan (IRL) on the 9-year-old stallion Essenar High Hopes (Phin Phin x Indoctro) placed third. Kristaps Neretnieks (LAT) on the 15-year-old gelding Moon Ray (Cornet Obolensky x Contender) took the fourth place and the fifth spot went to Abdullah Humaid Al Muhairi (UAE) on the 15-year-old mare Cha Cha Cha (Chacco Blue x Quick Star).
Earlier during the day, the first CSI5*-W class, a 1.45m two phases special presented by Sharjah Tourism, went to Shane Breen (IRL). Riding Evita (Carambole x Equador), the Irish rider stopped the clock on 24.88. David Will (GER) on Darius de Kezeg Z (Darco x Heartbreaker) placed second, while Holger Wulschner (GER) on Casirus (Castro 3 x Landor S) took the third spot and Jörg Naeve (GER) on HH Fleur (Darco x Bon Ami) the fourth. Tina Lund (DEN) on Cloi (Quirado x La Zarras) placed fifth.
The CSI5*-W show in Sharjah concludes on Saturday with its highlight, the H.H. Ruler of Sharjah Cup presented by Longines, a FEI World Cup Qualifier.
