The Longines FEI Jumping World Cup Final in Gothenburg, Sweden, scheduled for 31 March-4 April, will be unique. The stands – that normally are packed with audience – will be empty this time, as no spectators are allowed. Instead, Gothenburg Horse Show will offer digital viewing – both from the arena and the warm-up. The event can also be watched on FEI.TV.

A press release from Gothenburg Horse Show reads:

"Responses from National Federations that will be sending athletes to Gothenburg for the Finals have been very positive, providing assurance that there will be high-quality sport in the Scandinavium Arena.

Defending Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ champion Steve Guerdat (SUI) is one of the athletes who has the Finals in Gothenburg in his sights this Easter. The start list for the FEI Dressage World Cup™ Final, including title holder Isabell Werth (GER) will be announced after the final series qualifier in ‘s-Hertogenbosch (NED), 11-14 March 2021.

Together with local and national authorities, the Swedish Equestrian Federation and the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI), Got Event have produced a secure plan on Covid-19 countermeasures that will be implemented on site in accordance with applicable requirements and recommendations. No audience will be allowed in the arena and accreditations will be limited only to people engaged in the sport’s performances.

"We are grateful that the Swedish Government and local authorities have given permission for the FEI World Cup Finals to take place in Gothenburg in this very special year,” FEI President Ingmar De Vos said. “The measures in place are restrictive but mean that the Event can go ahead in a safe way for all participants and people involved. In these difficult times we are very thankful to have such experienced Organisers as Gothenburg Horse Show and Got Event to deliver the Finals to a community hungry for top class sport. I also want to express my gratitude to the sponsors, and particularly to Longines, the Official Partner and Timekeeper, for their continued support."

Got Event, the Organiser of the FEI World Cup™ Finals and Gothenburg Horse Show, have arranged sport events during the whole Covid-19 impacted period and have collected important knowledge on how to do it safely during an on-going pandemic.

"We have had both national and international soccer as well as ice hockey in our arenas, says Lotta Nibell, CEO of Got Event. We have an internal working group which now is specialised in producing secure events, even during this Covid-19 pandemic. These experiences and knowledge have of course been transferred to Gothenburg Horse Show. We also need to remember that Gothenburg Horse Show is one of Gothenburg’s largest yearly recurring events and therefore very important for the city, even a year as this. We are looking forward to an Easter filled with horses in Gothenburg and many visitors digitally!""
