French rider Kevin Staut and the 14-year-old mare Tolede de Mescam Harcour (Mylord Carthago*HN x Kouglof II) won Friday's feature class at Commercial Bank CHI Al Shaqab presented by Longines 2021 – a CSI5* 1.55m with a jump-off.

With a time of 35.87 seconds in the jump-off, Staut and Tolede de Mescam Harcour left their compatriots Simon Delestre and Hermes Ryan (Hugo Gesmeray x Ryon d'Anzex) behind them in runner-up position – with 0.45 second separating the two Frenchmen. Austria’s Max Kühner and Vancouver Dreams (Valentino x Stakkato) finished third with a time of 36.84 seconds in the jump-off, while Germany's Christian Kukuk and Checker 47 (Comme Il Faut 5 x Come On) ended fourth followed by Ireland's Mark Mcauley and Jasco Vd Bisschop (Dulf van den Bisschop x Krunch de Breve) in fifth.

"I'm very happy with Tolede," Staut commented to World of Showjumping after his win. "I have been riding her for about a year now, but this is my first big win with her. I never really rode her this fast before. As I was last to go in the jump-off, I got to watch Simon and Ryan and thought it would be difficult to beat them – they are so fast. But, I had a really good feeling and could do one less stride on nearly every line and the mare jumped great! It's good to come back to higher level sport, and everyone here is really, really motivated. The horses are fresh and jumping really well here, so it's tough competition."

Sweden’s Peder Fredricson and Hansson WL (Hip Hop x Iowa) won the CSI5* 1.50m against the clock, beating the rest of the field with a time of 58.95 seconds. France’s leading lady rider Penelope Leprevost and Verite Une Prince (Number One d'Iso x Rosire) finished second in 59.15, while Colombia’s Rene Lopez and Kheros van’t Hoogeinde (Echo Van 'T Spieveld x Darco) ended third with a time of 61.49.
