On March 1, the FEI cancelled international events in ten countries on the European mainland with immediate effect and until 28 March 2021 due to the rapid evolution of a very aggressive strain of the neurological form of Equine Herpes Virus (EHV-1), which originated in Valencia, Spain.

According to the FEI, six horses that contracted the virus in Valencia, have so far died. Four horses that competed in Valencia have travelled to Doha, Qatar, where one of them has tested positive to the virus.

The different European countries have taken varying forms of action, most of them cancelling all events until March 28. Below you can find information on the current EHV-1 sanitary protocols provided by some of the different European national federations:

Belgium

France

Germany

Great Britain
