Marcus Ehning’s long-time partner Comme Il Faut 5 (Cornet Obolensky x Ramiro) will be retired from the sport after Saturday’s CSI3* Grand Prix at Riesenbeck International, and will from there on focus full-time on his breeding career.

With Ehning in the saddle, the 16-year-old stallion has had a long and successful career. The two have many big victories under their belt: They topped the CSI5* Rolex Grand Prix in Brussels in 2018, as well as the CSI5* Longines FEI World Cup in Madrid and the CSI5* LGCT Grand Prix in Vienna in 2016 – to mention some. In addition, they have finished on the podium in CSI5* Grand Prix and World Cup classes in Leipzig, London, Rotterdam and Rome. In 2019, they took team silver at the European Championships in Rotterdam.

“I have had Comme Il Faut for eight years now and he is still super fit. I’m thankful for the time I have had with him, and happy he can retire while he is still on top. I will definitely miss him,” Ehning comments to World of Showjumping. “There are only a few horses with the same fantastic attitude and will that he has – I think these qualities make him stand out.”
