On Saturday evening, it was time for the CSI5*-W 1.60m Rikstoto Grand Prix at Kingsland Oslo Horse Show in Oslo, Norway, where the Longines FEI World Cup Western European League gets underway on Sunday. As last to go in the jump-off, Brazil’s Marlon Modolo Zanotelli and Obora's Chloe snatched the win – crossing the finish line in a time of 31.73 seconds.

The course set by Italy’s Elio Travagliati counted 13 obstacles and 16 efforts, and seven horse-and-rider combinations from the starting field of 30 cleared the first round track: Jack Whitaker (GBR) on Haya Loma N (Emerald x Lupicor) was joined by the home heroes Victoria Gulliksen (NOR) on Belle Fayvinia Z (Baloubet du Rouet x Raphael) and Geir Gulliksen (NOR) on Grandino H (Calvino Z x unknown), as well as Kevin Jochems (NED) on Emmerton (Silvio I x Sam R.), Harry Charles (GBR) on Borsato (Contendro I x Nijinski), Harry Allen (IRL) on Guinness (Nabab de Reve x Katell) and Marlon Modolo Zanotteli (BRA) on Obora's Chloe (Chacco-Blue x Lacapo).

In the jump-off, Harry Charles and Borsato did a picture-perfect round, setting the standard when stopping the clock on 33.82 – a time that for a while seemed unbeatable. However, Harry Allen and Guinness managed to catch Charles – taking over the lead with a time of 32.92, showing that there was still room for risk. As last to go in the jump-off, Marlon Modolo Zanotelli and Obora's Chloe took it all in their stride – turning to the penultimate vertical tighter than anyone before them. With a daring dash over the last oxer, the Brazilian stopped the clocks on 31.73, taking home the win and pushing Allen to second, Charles to third, Geir Gulliksen to fourth and Kevin Jochems to fifth.

"I think the course designer did a fantastic job," Zanotelli commented to World of Showjumping after his win. "The first round was delicate. I was lucky to be at the end of the jump-off, and I saw Harry's round from the in-gate. He was very fast, but seemed to get a bit stuck in the rollback and was maybe a bit careful to the last, so I thought I would try to do that differently. My mare is normally super careful, so I took all the risk in the rollback, and it was enough today – I was lucky."

"She is only ten and this is our first indoor show," Zanotelli said about Obora's Chloe. "She is owned by Patrick Mielnik, who owns many good horses. They are produced by Mario Piasecki as young horses and then sent on to other riders for the bigger shows. Obora's Chloe was jumping at three-star level when I got her, and this year she has been amazing – for a long period now. I am very lucky to have her."

"It is special to be here," Zanotelli explained about his feelings at the first indoor show of the season. "It felt super special here with the crowds today. The stands were full again after such a long break, and going in as last and winning felt special. It is always one of the hardest shows to start the indoor season with though: The arena is very small, and the horses are still getting used to going indoors after the outdoor season. For example, my mare's last show was in Aachen, so to come here is hard. I am super happy with her, she placed third in the big class yesterday before winning today."
