Lillie Keenan has acquired the 13-year-old Zangersheide gelding Queensland E (ex. Quinto de la Hamente Z, Quickfire De Ferann x Socrate De Chivre). The pair did their first international appearance at Peelbergen Equestrian Centre last weekend.

In January 2020, Dani G Waldman acquired Queensland E from Jos Lansink’s stable, where the gelding had been successful competed by Frank Schuttert all the way up to five-star level.

“I found out that Dani was going to stop competing and she was looking to sell some of her horses,” Keenan tells World of Showjumping. “This year, I was very fortunate to be put on a strong Global Champions League team, Stockholm Hearts, and I also have some pretty big ambitions with the US team. I have quite a strong group of horses but as everyone knows, when you are competing at this level, the more horses you have for the bigger classes, the better it is.”

“My boyfriend was the one that heard that Dani would be looking to sell and as soon as we found out, we got in the car the next morning to try him,” Keenan continues. “Dani was so encouraging and helpful, she told me everything about Queensland. Dani has been supportive and wonderful through the process. She is now going on to pursue a totally different passion, but I really appreciate her helpfulness.”

“Queensland is a horse with a lot of personality,” Keenan says. “He has had huge success even though he is not so old. He has done some impressive things and I feel lucky that I get to be a part of his career. He arrived about a week ago, and we basically felt at home with each other right away. I jumped him once at home and then we went to the show, and he was clear in every class, including the Grand Prix. I am really excited for the future! For sure we have to figure out some things, because my style is so different from Dani and Frank’s, but we have matched almost immediately; we just have to keep ironing out those details. I am excited to see what is to come with him.”

"I’m absolutely thrilled for Lillie to have him," Dani G Waldman tells World of Showjumping. "I’ve never had a deal go quicker or smoother and it instantly looks like a super match. I have high hopes for them as a pair and I will watch with great admiration."
