The year in review 2016

World of Showjuming asked Sweden’s very own Rolf-Göran Bengtsson, Scott Brash’s head groom Hannah Colman as well as Italy’s leading rider Lorenzo de Luca about their best sporting memories from 2016:

Rolf-Göran Bengtsson:

“The highlight for me in 2016 was when I won the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix in Doha, also taking the 2016 Longines Global Champions Tour-title with Casall Ask. I mean; it was two wins in one! Of course it was also very special to win the LGCT Grand Prix of Paris and Valkenswaard with Casall Ask – with Valkenswaard being my old working place – but Doha was the real highlight.”

Hannah Colman:

“For me, my best memory this year is Ursula coming second in the Rolex Grand Prix of Aachen. It may sound strange as there were other shows where Scott won – however that's when I knew she was 'back'. From having nearly two years off, everybody in the team did everything to get her back and Scott always believed in her. In the Grand Prix of Aachen, that's when all the hard work from everybody paid off. For me was a great feeling being part of it.”

Lorenzo de Luca:

“For me, this year’s best memory is for sure the Grand Prix win in Dublin with Ensor de Litrange. It was a crazy fantastic week, with a super atmosphere every day and with the horses jumping amazing: Halifax van het Kluizebos won the Anglesea Stakes, Limestone Grey the Serpentine Speed Stakes and the JLT Dublin Stakes while Ensor de Litrange won both the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup with the Italian team and the Longines Grand Prix!”
