This weekend the Longines FEI World Cup Western European League has moved on from the season opener in the Norwegian capital Oslo to Helsinki, Finland. The action kicked off on Friday with three international classes.

The main class of the day, a 1.45m Table A against the clock presented by Fortum Horse Power, went to Bertram Allen (IRL) on the 9-year-old stallion Dino W (Berlin x Amour Z). Clocking the winning time of 54,29 seconds, the pair was the fastest of the 46 horse-and rider combinations in this competition counting for the Longines Ranking.

“I am really happy with my horse, he is only 9-years-old,” Allen said after the class. “I think the course builder did a good job today,” he continued.

Eric van der Vleuten (NED) on the 13-year-old gelding Zigali PS (Kigali x Palfrenier) took the runner-up position with a time of 54,97 seconds, while Gregory Wathelet (BEL) on the 13-year-old stallion Eldorado van het Vijverhof (Thunder van de Zuuthoeve x Omar) placed third with a time of 55,07 seconds. Philipp Weishaupt (GER) on the 8-year-old mare Call Me Ewa (Chacco Blue x Stakkato) placed fourth and the fifth spot went to Maikel van der Vleuten (NED) on the 11-year-old gelding VDL Groep Quatro (Quaprice Bois Margot x Caletto).

Earlier in the morning the international welcome class, a 1.40m presented by Stopteltat, saw a Finn on top. Sanna Backlund (FIN) on the 14-year-old mare Wilhelmina (Indoctro x Bulat) took a popular home win with a time of 25,77 seconds. Rein Pill (EST) on the 10-year-old gelding Alfons Ra (Aromats x False Pass) placed second with a time of 26,33, while Aldrick Cheronnet (FRA) on the 11-year-old stallion Atlantys By Wisbecq (Argentinus x Darco) took the third spot with a time of 26,53 seconds.
