Deusser takes the Levy Restaurants Snowman Stakes in London

The traditional CSI5*-W event at Olympia, London continued on Friday with the 25,000 Euro Levy Restaurants Snowman Stakes going to Germany’s Daniel Deusser and SX Hidalgo VG (Quadrillo x Andiamo).

The 1.50m competition with two rounds saw 33 pairs lined up, and ten of them kept a clean sheet in the first round. Five pairs managed to produce a double clear result, with Daniel Deusser on the 10-year-old gelding SX Hidalgo VG being the fastest of them and securing the win with a time of 42,32 seconds. Olivier Robert (FRA) on the 8-year-old gelding Vivaldi des Meneaux (Chippendale Z x Bamako) took the runner-up position with a tiny margin, after stopping the clock at 42,35 seconds. The always fast combination of Harrie Smolders (NED) and the 13-year-old gelding Zinius (Nabab de Reve x Kannan) had to settle for third place with a time of 42,47 seconds, while Amanda Derbyshire (GBR) on the 9-year-old mare Luibanta BH (Luidam x Abantos) took the fourth spot with a time of 46,62. Fifth went to Scott Brash (GBR) on the 8-year-old gelding Hello Mr. President (Comme d'Api Jr.), after the pair clocked a time of 49,58 seconds. 

Friday's first class, the Snowflake Stakes, a 1.45m against the clock, went to Belgium's Francois Mathy Jr. and the 12-year-old stallion Falco van de Clehoeve (Quickfeuer van Koekshof x Fellini). Clocking a time of 47,34 seconds, the pair took the win ahead of Laura Renwick (GBR). Riding the 9-year-old mare MHS Washington (Obos Quality x Cavalier Royale), Renwick had to settle for the runner-up position with a time of 47,57. Cian O'Connor (IRL) on the 9-year-old gelding It´s Me (Cicero Z x Poor Boy) placed third with a time of 48,24 seconds, while Olivier Philippaerts (BEL) on the 13-year-old mare Ustina Sitte (Clinton x Parco) took the fourth place with a time of 49,40. The fifth spot went to John Whitaker (GBR) on the 9-year-old mare Leen O.L. (Berlin x Kannan), putting two home riders in the top five.
