No rain on the roof and no flooded stables! Today was looking hopeful! One truck came from home to pick some horses up already at 8am this morning, as Porter had finished jumping he headed home, Spartis a lot bigger so is better for him to stay with and come home on the big truck with the rest tonight. First job after doing the normal stable duties was to longe CC to hopefully get him nice and relaxed before jumping today. He was very fresh at first and was seeing lots of aliens but in the end he was nice and quiet, hopefully he jumps good today. Next out was Sparti who Marco rode before the first class. Nice quiet day for him today as there was no classes for him today.
CC jumped the middle tour final today and was much better, just one down, not so many aliens in the ring today. Marco had to rush off to do autograph signings before riding Cash. Unfortunately for Cashi this meant that he only had a short time in the box before I had to make him ready for the grand prix as we were number 1 to go. Luckily Cash never goes with plaits and has no white so he's super quick and easy to make ready for the ring. Just as Marco left for the warm up the heavens opened and the rain really began to pour! Luckily the warm up is under a tent so we stayed dry. When we were warming up there was also some pretty cool thunder and lighting which scared me a lot more than Cash who didn't seemed to be phased at all! Poor Cash who had to jump last week in the worst heat in Valkensward was this weekend jumping in the worst rain, but he jumped super and just had an unlucky one down.
Headed back to the stables to wash both Cash and the tack as Marco thought we wouldn't been in the second round. Unfortunately I returned to a lake in our aisle, Katta had managed to rescue the freezer and other things but unfortunately her tack box was even more flooded than mine! Once Cash was happily relaxing in the box Marco came to say that yes we were in the second round. Luckily no plaits in Cash so was able to quickly make him ready again and at least this time it wasn't raining. I don't think Cash minded leaving his box too much though as this was also rather soggy! In the jump off Cash had three down but this is how it goes and he's only just back from a break and is maybe lacking fitness. Super for the stable though that Ludger won again this weekend with Chaman, 2 grand prixs in 2 weeks! Back at the stable it was time to begin to finish the horses and pack everything up to go home, we always end up bringing something extra home from shows, whether it be buggies, horses or some other things and this weekend it was a fence! The best part of the day was arriving home before 9.30pm and then sitting in the stables eating emergency food brought from McDonalds by Nanna!! I don't think it would have been possible to finish unpacking without this, thank you! So another long weekend is over and I'm quite happy that I just actually managed to survive as this morning it wasn't looking to hopeful to make it through the day! :)
Best wishes Terri
