A Citroën for Rolf & Ninja La Silla in Leipzig

Friday, 20 January 2012

Ninja La Silla enjoyed the attention at the prize giving ceremony. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Friday’s biggest class in Leipzig went to the currently unstoppable force called Rolf-Göran Bengtsson on Ninja La Silla (Guidam x Lys de Darmen). In this 1.50 class against the clock the winner got a brand new Citroën, and the riders chased each other hard to take home the first prize. The course was a big one, and demanded capacity and scope. Angelica Augustsson took an early lead on the hot chestnut Mic Mac du Tillard (Cruising x Galoubet A) that is just back fresh after a small Christmas holiday, but it didn’t last through the class. Katrin Eckermann set a good target on the lovely Carlson (Casco 4 x Sable Rose), but with over 30 riders to go the German talent could not hold on to the top.

Around ten riders later it was Billy Twomey who took over the top of the leader board after a great round on Tinka’s Serenade (Tinka’s Boy x African Drum). Billy had to see himself pushed down to second though when number one in the world Rolf-Göran Bengtsson showed that he and Ninja La Silla had the most horse power to be worthy of a car. Rolf managed to shave off over a second on Billy’s time, after an amazing round. With the experienced 17 year old gelding, Rolf made the big 13-fence track look easy and afterwards the Swede was a very happy man.

”Ninja La Silla didn’t jump yesterday, but I had a good feeling already then. Today he was in a good mood! Ninja La Silla is not always the fastest, but today he was so relaxed that I just kept riding forward all the way. I went for short turns, instead of going too fast,” Rolf said after the win – as well as thanking his sponsor Alfonso Romo for supporting him with such good horses. The representative from Citroën Jörg Heuter said; “Rolf doesn’t only ride fantastic, he also drives fantastic!”

Top five:
1) Rolf-Göran Bengtsson/Ninja La Silla 0-58.82
2) Billy Twomey/Tinka’s Serenade 0-59.89
3) Katrin Eckermann/Carlson 0-61.02
4) Lars Nieberg/Quiletta de Domaine 0-61.28
5) Carsten-Otto Nagel/Rarität 0-61.40
