Pius Schwizer won the CSI5* Massimo Dutti 1,50 class in Estoril, Portugal, on Friday evening after a change of the time-allowed. Pius rode in the beginning of the first round and originally got one time fault. After some of the riders the time-allowed was changed, and Pius got rid of his time fault and qualified for the jump-off.
A total of eleven riders qualified for the jump-off and Stefan Eder with Chilli van Dijk (Champion du Lys x Alcatraz) were first to go. Stefan did a nice and fast round, but had one pole down. Next out was Luciana Diniz and Winningmood (Darco x Lassini) and they did their second clear round in 43,93. That time didn´t last for long as Pius Schwizer and Ulysse (Nonstop x Jus de Pomme) crossed the finish line on 40,99 seconds.
Then it was time for Marco Kutscher who rode the well jumping stallion Cornet Obolensky (Clinton x Heartbreaker). They did two great rounds even though one pole fell in the jump-off and a time fault was added to the four faults. It was nice to see the stallion back from his breeding break. Edwina Alexander and Cevo Socrates (Darco x Chin Chin) kept on their good form with an excellent first round, but a pole fell for them in the jump-off.
Ludger Beerbaum and Coupe de Coeur (Calido I x Lincoln) did their best to be the fastest, but they didn´t manage to beat Pius' time. Clarissa Crotta was next and she is for sure back among the best. Clarissa did another clear in the first round with Imperial West Side van Meerputhoeve (Baloubet du Rouet x Apollonios), and rode a safe round in the jump-off that led to one time fault. Tinka´s Serenade (Tinka´s Boy x African Drum) and Billy Twomey got a surprisingly eight faults in the second round, and Daniel Deusser got four faults on his Cabreado S.E. (Cannabis Z x Gold Sky). Philipp Weishaupt and Souvenir (Stakkato x Lemon xx) on the other hand rode a clear round just on the right side of the time limit and took over the fourth position. Christian Ahlmann with Taloubet Z (Galoubet A x Polydor) were last to go and they really challenged Pius for the first place, but it didn´t go all the way for the German rider. With a time of 41,10 seconds, Christian had to settle for the second place.
Two more riders went clear, but ended up with time faults in the first round; Juan Carlos Garcia on Moka de Mescam (Melikor du Montois x Quouglof Rouge) got one time fault and Kamal Abdullah Bahamdan on Cezanne (Calido I x Corofino I) got two time faults.
The new couple of the day was Abdullah Al Sharbatly and Larkhill Cruiser (Cruising x Crosstown Dancer). They did their first big class together and ended the course with eight faults. Larkhill Cruiser was previously ridden by Cian o´Connor. Otherwise several of the horses that were at start in Estoril were the same that were competing in Monte Carlo last weekend.
