In business for over ten years now, EquiFit, inc. has become an industry leader in manufacturing cutting-edge, high-quality products and equipment for equestrians. Founder and President, Alexandra Cherubini, credits the success to teamwork back at home base in Dedham, Massachusetts.

“It’s a real group effort at EquiFit,” says Cherubini. “We all play important roles when bringing a new product to market. Our staff, our riders, our research and development team, designers, and all the people who build our products by hand. Everyone is responsible for turning out the very best products possible.”

According to Cherubini, inspiration comes from everywhere. Through her travels, following the horse show circuit, as well as researching the latest technologies in healthcare and fitness, new ideas can be found anywhere.

“Once we conceptualize a new product, then the real work starts,” says Cherubini. EquiFit’s research and development team springs into action. Different materials are experimented with and explored. Prototypes are made and discussed. And then testing begins. Hand-made samples are pulled and prodded and sent to the field for real-life testing. EquiFit Carlos is Cherubini’s primary horse and one of EquiFit’s biggest critics. His opinion is one of the first and most important reviews that is considered.

After multiple rounds of prototypes are created, reworked and tested, then the research and development team gets even more technical. At this point, every effort is made to test the strength and durability of the materials and assembly. Elastic is pulled with exaggerated weight. Tabs are bent back and forth tens of thousands of times. Liners are tested under extreme temperatures. Tests are rigorous and limits are pushed.

Once satisfied, the new product will enter production. 95% of all EquiFit products are produced domestically. “We're proud of the fact the we can say Made in the USA. It's extremely important to us to support our local economy and ensure fair labor practices at the same time.” Says Cherubini. EquiFit calls Dedham, Massachusetts home, and that’s where their boots, saddle pads, liners, standing wraps, hot/cold therapy compression boots and much much more are all made, most of it by hand.

So what’s in production for the future at EquiFit? In addition to ongoing new developments, the big push is custom. EquiFit launched D-Teq Custom boots this August. They’ve taken their D-Teq boot, which riders love, and offered customizable options. Cherubini says that customization is a trend that’s here to stay. “Our research tells us that everyone wants to stand out and be unique. D-Teq Custom boots answer that demand. People want tough, and people want personal. That’s D-Teq Custom.” Getting even more personal, EquiFit offers their D-Teq Custom boots via their own Custom Concierge. A direct line to one-on-one custom support.
