Wednesday, 24 September 2014

It was the overall quality of the horses that characterized this year's collection of the Dutch Sport Horse Sales auction. This resulted in exceptional prices. The total turnover of €3.028.000 improved last years result. The average price of the 31 carefully selected top talents added up to €97.667. The very talented Ukato-son Ducati VDP goes to Australia for top price of €260.000.

"We aim to annually improve our collection and turnover. We move the bar up a few notches every time. We knew that we were able to present a very strong collection. We were happy to live up to these expectations again. One of our strongest points is that we are not dependant on just one client, we are proud that we have managed to create a good network. Worth mentioning are the Australian customers that Yves (Houtackers) knows, they bought the most expensive horse. We work together as a team and it is great if the plans come together," according Paul Hendrix on behalf of the organisation.

The horses were sold to twelve different nations, and thirteen horses will fly to the USA. Only two horses will stay in Holland, under which the stallion For The Moment (s.Mr.Blue) who is invited for the KWPN performance testing. The very talented six-years-old Ducati VDP (s.Ukato) fetched the highest price of €260.000 and is one of the three horses with a price exceeding €200.000. "We bought that horse in the beginning of this year because his great potential. He needs some time to develop, but when he gets that time, I am sure we will see him in the biggest championships worldwide", says Paul Hendrix about the Ukato-offspring bred by Arend van der Pol. The promising Zapatero VDL-offspring Ferimain TH will continue his career in the USA and was sold for the price of €235.000, while the scopy Elmira (s.Numero Uno) got new Belgian owners for €205.000. Besides those, another seven horses were sold for prices over €100.000. There was many interest for the horses selected by Paul and Emile Hendrix, Yves Houtackers and Neil Jones. Both spectators and bidders by phone showed their willingness to buy.

Another highlight of the evening was the honouring of the complete Dutch jumping team, which won team gold at the World Equestrian Games earlier this month. Out of the hands of the organisation Jeroen Dubbeldam, Jur Vrieling, Gerco Schröder and Maikel van der Vleuten received a special statue of artist Jos Dirix. Every year a great performing horse out of the former Dutch Sport Horse Sales-editions is awarded with the title 'Horse of the Year'. Because of his good results in the young horse-competitions this year, the Veron-offspring Dutsboy of Joy Lammers is crowned 'Horse of the Year'.
