Ahlmann on top in Prix Merial Lyon, while Guerdat secured Friday's Prix Fonds Eperon

Christian Ahlmann has had a good weekend in Lyon so far. Photo by Ken J. Braddick/dressage-news.comSaturday's Prix Merial (150/160 m) in Lyon went Christian Ahlmann and Lorena (Larenco x Romeo). The German rider and Marion Jauss' 10 year old mare had the only double clear in the class, and also the fastest time of all the riders in the jump-off with a time of 39.34 seconds - securing the top prize of 14375 Euro. Five other riders joined Christian in the jump-off, but none of them remained faultless. Ben Maher came closest to Christian, with four faults and the time of 40.31 seconds on Aristo Z (Andiamo x Flamenco de Semilly). Home rider Kevin Staut took a popular third place, also he on four faults and a time of 41.18 seconds aboard Reveur de Hurtebise HDC (Kashmir van Schuttershof x Capricieux Des Six Sences).

Earlier in the day Scott Brash and Bon Ami (Pavarotti van de Helle x Richebourg) took yet another win for the season. The super speedy pair won the accumulator class ahead of  Roger Yves Bost and Ben Maher.

Yesterday Steve Guerdat and Jalisca Solier (Alligator Fontaine x Jalisco B) was the best combination in Lyon ahead of Christian Ahlmann who seems to be on form this weekend. Yesterday Ahlmann was aboard Aragon(Askari x Kolibri) and the two crossed the finish line 1,01 seconds behind Guerdat and his fifteen year old super partner. Marc Houtzager was third with Sterrehof's Tamino.
