Alex Duffy has a new base, as he has started to work with his compatriot Bertram Allen. The 25 year old Irish rider has for the three last years been working for Carl Hanley, at his yard in Ostercappeln, Germany. Two weeks ago, Duffy moved himself 150 km to Allen's stable in Hünxe. "I had the time of my life at Carl and Nadja's yard, and I learned so much there – but I felt it was time to go a bit more independent which I have the possibility to now," Duffy explains. "I will be based here at Bertram's to work with him and for him – sharing the riding on the younger horses with Bertram himself, but I will also have the opportunity to ride for other owners alongside."
Duffy's connection to the Hanley-yard remains strong though. "They send with me Idream, a seven year old mare I think a lot of – and I also recently had one more horse arriving from their stable," Alex comments to World of Showjumping.
Alex has already made his competition debut on Allen's horses, and won a 1.45 class on Wrangler II at the CSI2* show in Asten a little over one week ago.
