Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games | The spirit of showjumping

Friday, 05 September 2014

It is the World Equestrian Games and it is the final day of the team competition. The teams and riders will compete for medals, for a qualification for the next Olympic Games and for a good place on the individual ranking. Despite the pressure to succeed both indivually and as a team, even the championship course walks show how the riders and trainers help each other regardless of their nationality.  All photos by Jenny Abrahamsson.

Belgium's Gregory Wathelet and Switzerland's Steve Guerdat support each other, and walked the course together.  Jeroen Dubbeldam having a chat with the German Rene Tebbel, who trains the team from Ukraine.  Sweden's Henrik von Eckermann and Germany's Ludger Beerbaum. Colombia's Daniel Bluman gets some advice from his trainer Eric Lamaze, who competes for Canada. USA's McLain Ward and Canada's Ian Millar. Cian O'Connor came to help Austria's Stefanie Bistan. Hanging out at the cow fence. Jordan's Ibrahim Bisharat and Ukraine's Cassio Rivetti. The Netherland's Yves Houtackers and Norway's Geir Gulliksen. Norway's Stein Endresen and Sweden's Rolf-Göran Bengtsson. USA's McLain Ward and Norway's Geir Gulliksen going throught the course together.
