Anelies Vorsselmans won the Grand Prix in Oldenburg today together with the 12 year old gelding Eurocommerce Cleveland (Quite Easy x Good Future) and ended up with a new car!
The 2* show in Oldenburg is a popular one with several top riders at start such as top two from the Europeans in September; Rolf-Göran Bengtsson with Ninja la Silla (Guidam x Lys de Darmen) and Carsten-Otto Nagel with Corradina (Corrado x Sandro). A total of 50 riders and horses took part in the Grand Prix, and 14 of them had a clear first round, including Bengtsson and Nagel.
Anelies was the first to go in the jump-off and managed to do a round that no one else could beat, her time was 36,23 seconds. Mario Stevens on Corlanda (Cordalme Z x Landcapitol) for sure gave it a go, and with the time 34,42 seconds they would have won if it wasn't for the last pole that fell. Jan Wernke thought that he managed to beat Anelies when he crossed the finish line, but ended up three hundreds of a second behind Annelies - eventually good enough for second place.
Ninja La Silla made his first apperance since the Europeans, and jumped great today. After a somewhat slow start to the jump-off, the pair really went into top gear after a couple of fences and secured the third place after a clear jump-off at the time 36.85. Corradina and Carsten-Otto Nagel had to see a pole fall already on jump number two, and ended up in 10th place.
Henrik von Eckermann with Cornet du Lys (Cornet Obolensky x Champion du Lys) was last to go. The seven year old stallion jumped amazing, but totally forgot his hindlegs on the second fence in the combination which ment four faults and a seventh place.
Anelies has been working for Eurocommerce for a year now and this was her first show in Germany for the stable. "This was a total surprise," she said happily after the win.
