Argento - one for the future

Sunday, 28 November 2010

John Whitaker has an amazing horse for the future in the 8 year old stallion Argento. The stallion’s sire is the great Arko II (by Argentinus), who was hugely successful on the international scene together with Nick Skelton. Argento’s dam is Flora May (by Gasper). He is British bred, by Keeley Durham – who previously owned another famous horse of John’s; Welham.Argento - a promising horse for John. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.

In Stockholm this weekend John told WoSJ this about the horse: "We have had him since he was four, and he is extremely careful. He has made so few faults, that I can actually remember every single one."

And in Stockholm Argento proved exactly how careful he is, by delivering one clear round after another.

Argento has been campaigned at the national circuit in Britain, and has been one of the best young horses in the country. In 2009 he won the British Young Horse Show 7 year old Championship with John in the saddle. Over the last few years the stallion has been introduced to the international scene.

The stallion is approved in the AES, and is available on frozen semen.
