Barnike and Bertram Allen do it again at the FEI World Breeding Jumping Championship

Sunday, 21 September 2014

Bertram Allen was joined by Christian Ahlmann and Niklas Arvidsson on the podium in Lanaken. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Last year Bertram Allen won the FEI World Breeding Jumping Championship for 6 year olds with Barnike (Baldwin B x Animo). This year the young couple repeated their win in Lanaken, taking home the championship final for 7 year old horses after two convincing clear rounds - also the only double clear round of the final.

Ten horse and rider combinations cleared the very tough first round track that was set up for the seven year olds and qualified for the jump-off. Over the shortened track against the clock one after the other had to see poles fall to the ground. When Bertram Allen went into the ring as third last to go, there were still no clear rounds. That didn't stop Bertram to give his all with Barnike - who seemed to enjoy the speed. Their will to risk paid off with not only the fastest time of the class, but also with the only clear round against the clock.

Christian Ahlmann made it to the podium once again - ending second - with the Zangersheide gelding Casuality Z (Cassini II x Chellano Z). Casuality Z has a lot of experience from the World Championships finals, doing his third one today. Christian Ahlmann was the fastest rider of those ending the jump-off on four faults.

The bronze medal went to Niklas Arvidsson with the Swedish Warmblood stallion Hasard (Heartbeat x Voltaire) - also he with four faults in the jump-off.
