Behind the scenes at the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup in Falsterbo - part two

Saturday, 12 July 2014

Sergio Alvarez Moya has good reason to smile; he keeps on producing double clear rounds for Spain and is rocketing up on the world ranking. Here together with team-mate Manuel Fernandez Saro. Photos by Jenny Abrahamsson.

Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum was the first rider to go for the German team on Fibonacci, and the pair ended their second round with four faults after five penalties in the first. Kathi Offel gives her support to Cassio Rivetti. Ashlee Bond Clarke almost looked a little bit nervous entering the ring for the second round. Last preparations before start for Manuel Fernandez Saro with the super cool Darius 2. Douglas Lindelöw kept cool and was clear in the first round on Casello, in the second two rails fell though. Steve Guerdat didn't jump the second round, so Fabio Crotta with Rubina VIII was first to go for Switzerland - here getting the last advices from Achaz von Buchwaldt. Leopold van Asten congratulating Wout-Jan van der Schans after his double clear. You could almost see the clear round coming for this pair. Spencer Roe had a big smile on his face entering the arena for the second round and Wonder Why looked just as happy.  Disappointed faces for the Swiss team. Team Ukraine waiting to start.  A happy Rob Hoekstra after Spencer Roe's clear round. Full focus for Catherine Pasmore with Bonanza van Paemel. Andre Thieme was very pleased with Conthendrix who was clear on the fences in both rounds. But Andre rode a bit too slow - ending up with one time penalty in both rounds. In the end it did not matter though, as Germany won. Georgina Bloomberg taking a look at her team mates on the big screen. Alexander Zettermann couldn't stop smiling after his clear in the first round, but quickly found the focus again for the second round.  Douglas Lindelöw on his way to cheer for his team mates.  Alain Jufer was a very supportive reserve rider for the Swiss team.
