Ben Maher and Tripple X won in Basel

Friday, 13 January 2012

Winners in Basel; Ben Maher and Tripple X. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Ben Maher and his own bred Tripple X (Namelus R x Cantango) took home the win in the highest class at the CSI5* show in Basel, Switzerland, today. Ben and 14 others made it to the jump-off were poles fell to the ground regularly.

Patrice Delaveau and Orient Express started off the jump-off, and did it in a typical Patrice-way; clear and very fast! But this time Patrice didn´t stay in the lead for long, second to go was Luciana Diniz and her Winningmood (Darco x Cassini). Luciana didn´t take Winningmood back once throughout the course and was slightly faster than Patrice when she crossed the finish line.

After that a string of riders followed that had one or more down; Katharina Offel with Fidji Island (For Feeling x Wanderer), Christian Ahlmann with Taloubet Z (Galoubet x Polydor), Michael Whitaker with Viking (Jacomar x Almox Prints), Paul Freimüller with Biness van Overis (Heartbreaker x Ramiro), Martin Fuchs with Karin (Shan x Natif de Signet) and Athina Onassis de Miranda with AD Unaniem all had four faults while Alvaro Miranda with AD Rahmannshof´s Bogeno (Baloubet du Rouet x Elanville) and Hans-Dieter Dreher with Magnus Romeo (Royal Feu) had eight faults.

Jos Lansink with Cavalor Valentina van´t Heike (Nabab de Reve x Lys de Darmen) was the next one who managed to clear the jump-off. Jos rode a safe round and was ten seconds slower than Luciana. Pilar Lucrecia Cordon with Nuage Bleu (Fildor de Largival) also did a clear round, but she couldn´t do anything about Luciana and Patrice's times so she went in to third position.

The next rider was the one who ended up as the winner; Ben Maher with his Tripple X. Second last to go were Kevin Staut and ZZ Top vh Schaarbroek Z (Zandor x Latus) and they had eight faults while the last to go Daniel Deusser and Untouchable (Hors la Loi x Heartbreaker) had four faults.
