Saturday, 17 November 2012

Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Ben Maher took home Saturday's biggest class in Stuttgart with Aristo Z after a fast second round. 16 riders went clear in the first round and qualified for the second round. Hans-Dieter Dreher decided not to start, so the second round consisted of 15 horses and riders.

David Will was first to go with Colorit (Coriano x Capitol) and he showed off some fantastic turns, but one pole fell and he ended with four faults. But David's time was the best throughout the class, and no one managed to be faster. Luciana Diniz with Fit For Fun (For Pleasure x Fabriano) had to settle with eight faults.

Marcus Ehning with Cornado NRW (Cornet Obolensky x Acobat) was the first one to clear the second round and that with a text book performance. Quintero La Silla, who is doing his first 5* show after an injury, played his way around the course. Rolf-Göran Bengtsson had to see the last fence fall though and took over the third place.

Second place went to Leon Thijssen with Quintera. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson. Then the faults kept coming - Scott Brash with Ursula XII (Ahorn x Papageno) got 4 faults, Laura Kraut with Nouvelle (Solitair x Contango) got 8 faults, Edwina Tops-Alexander with Ego Van Orti also got 8 faults, Katrin Eckermann with Carlson (Casco x Sable Rose) got 4 faults, Jessica Springsteen with Cincinatti La Silla (Carry x Acrobat) also got 4 faults, Marco Kutscher with Cornet's Cristallo (Cornet Obolensky x Pilot) got 12 faults and Penelope Leprevost with Nice Stephanie (Cardento x Ralme Z) got the last fence down.

Kevin Staut with Copenhague TM (by Calido) was the first one to break the bad strikes and cleared the course in 42,62 seconds. Then the poles started falling again and Gregory Wathelet with Baloudana (Baloubet du Rouet x Carthago) got one down as well as a misunderstanding on the second last fence after a short turn.

Ben Maher was next to go and he did a fantastic round with the speedy Aristo Z and took over the lead with his 39,85 seconds. Leon Thijssen with Quintera (Kannan x Quick Star) did his best to be faster, but he had to settle for the second place.
